Workshop details:
As technology grows the focus on climate change and the air we breathe is becoming more important in todays world. We will talk about the changes from the old days of carburation, and advancing to the days of fuel injection, then to the advancement of hybrid and electric. There will be few items to display that the kids will be able to pass around, such as a carburetor, fuel injectors, even a computer that shows the intricacies of the circuit boards. You will learn about the advancement in tailpipe gases from automobiles and how the gases are created from an engine, what gets filtered from the catalytic converters, and go into SMOG and why we fight to keep California skies clean. We will discuss the history of SMOG and explain what we do as Automotive Technicians to continually keep vehicles running correctly so the emissions of a vehicle is always at its lowest. Additionally, with electric vehicles on the rise and Automotive Technicians today have to keep up with all technology to make sure vehicles are always repaired properly for the safety of them and their families.
Meet Brandon Williams
General Manager/Master Technician, Lael’s International Auto Center
I started in the Marine Corps in 2005 as a Motor Transport Operator and once I got out of the Marine Corps in 2009 I went into the automotive industry. I have worked from the ground up, from sweeping floors to oil changes and basic repairs, to then massive engine repairs. I then began specializing in Volkswagen and Audi for 5 years. Took many training courses to excel in knowledge in automotive technology. I then went farther into European vehicles and specialized in BMW and Mercedes-Benz. I have repaired exotics such as Aston Martin, Maserati, and Lotus. I continued with my education in night school to receive my bachelor's degree in business management with Emphasis in HR. I then became the HR manager and shop foreman for the business. I am now the General Manager and plan on purchasing the business to continue with my passion of cool cars, loud engines and proper quality repairs to keep the consumer and their families safe.
“The louder the engine, the bigger the smile from behind the wheel!”
