Meet Amanda Sowell
District Admin Support, The Learning Choice Academy
DMD, Class of 2011
I began my education journey attending a 4 year university just after high school. While my path did not follow the usual 4 year plan, I overcame a few twists and turns and completed my Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in 2017. After 3 years of teaching I went back to school and completed my Masters degree in educational leadership, all while building a family. I am now in an administrative position at my school supporting compliance documentation and engaging with community members to support the growth and development of our program. My involvement in many high school activities and groups gave me the confidence and skills to be successful and motivated in adulthood.
Meet Lily Nguyen
Operations Coordinator Communication Studies | Art+Design, Point Loma Nazarene University
DMD, Class of 2013
I didn't take the conventional route of attending a four-year university right after high school. After completing my General Education classes at several community colleges while working full-time, I took a break from college to gain real-world experience in jobs that piqued my interest. From becoming a certified massage therapist to flying out and interviewing athletes in Atlanta, Georgia, to working in marketing and graphic design for several start-up companies, I realized that these enriching experiences all held a common theme: I want to help others with integrity & honesty and build on my technical and personal skills to achieve that. Now, I am pursuing my B.A. in Information Technology at Point Loma Nazarene University. Fun Fact: It was the only university to which I ever applied.
