Fail Forward

This workshop is for you if:

  • You are looking to pursue a degree or career in STEM.

  • You want to learn how to be successful in STEM even when it seems difficult.

  • You want to make a difference in your community.

Workshop details:

Don't quite know what to major in? Neither did I, but I knew what I liked. It is scary deciding on what to major in and especially when people have questioned whether you were capable of achieving it. In this workshop, I will share how I found my interest in STEM, how failure has led me to success, and how working in STEM has helped make a difference in my community and how you can do it too!

Meet Vanessa Eslava

Transportation Engineer, TYLin

Vanessa is an OHS alumni, who started out in Palomar Community College to figure out what she wanted to pursue as her career. Vanessa transferred to SDSU and graduated as a Civil Engineer. As a Civil Engineer, she works in the Transportation field where she designs and manages projects related to transit. Not only does she work as an engineer, she also promotes STEM via social media and through professional organizations.

I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed
