This workshop is for you if you are wondering:

  • What industry/job should I pursue?

  • Which career path should I take?

  • You want to learn how to turn your core values into your career

Workshop details:

The job I have today is miles away from the job I thought I wanted when I was a senior in high school.  As the daughter of first generation immigrants, my career path was set early on by my parents and culture.  Desperate to live up to their expectations and not disappoint, I drove myself to pursue their dreams for me, to be a doctor, an engineer, or even a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), all professions way beyond my natural abilities.

Through many twists and turns in my career and my life, each accompanied by fear of the unknown, I slowly discovered who I really was and what my core values and true passions were.  This in turn led me to my dream job that I have today, a job I love so much I don’t consider it work, more like living my purpose.

In the workshop, I’ll share turning points, steps, and risks I took along the way and how being open and flexible to new ideas and opportunities taught me to eventually follow my own heart and not the expectations of others, to find the job I was always meant to do.

Meet Lisa Andaleon

CFO, Jamboree Housing

As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), I oversee all aspects of financial management and strategy at Jamboree Housing, a non-profit affordable housing developer, with a ~$3.2 billion portfolio consisting of 100+ properties and 10,000+ homes that provide housing to 25,000+ low-income residents in California.  Jamboree also provides on-site resident programs such as after-school programs at family properties, enrichment services at senior properties, supportive services at veterans properties and mental health services at permanent supportive housing properties, all designed to build community, provide educational enhancement and encourage healthy living.

I have worked in banking, mortgage banking, real estate development, healthcare, health insurance, biomedical research and higher education (USC, go Trojans!) and consulted for non-profits such as the Tony Hawk Foundation and San Diego Center for Children.

I have a master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in math and economics from Claremont McKenna College.   I also love volunteering, having served on the Board of Directors of Community Housing Works and Culture Shock San Diego, and as a mentor with the Association of University Technology Managers’ Mentorship Program.

Seek to do brave and lovely things which are left undone by the majority of people. Give gifts of love and peace to those whom others pass by.
