Join us as we make it possible for students to choose their own adventure and learn directly from our community.

On Friday, May 9th, Kearny High School is taking an innovative approach to their students’ education. Instead of attending regular classes that morning we will hack the bell schedule and students will attend a student professional development conference or Youth Success Conference led by community members. Volunteers prepare a 40 minute presentation that will be delivered two to three times to different groups of students.

How do a person’s decisions and actions impact their life?

This is your opportunity to share your story and inspire the next generation!

Hot topics:

  • Education Empowers: What was your educational path? Looking for individuals that can share their journey and explain higher education options to students.

  • Finances and Money: Looking for finance experts! Let's talk money... How do you make money? How should you spend money? What makes a good investment?

  • Discover Your Identity: Show students how you discovered yourself and teach how they can too. Everyone has skills, but how do you learn what they are and maximize your abilities?

  • Career Ready Skills: Share your career journey. How do you get a job?! Teach students tips and tricks to make them stand out in interviews, on resumes, and when networking.

  • Alumni Advocates: Komets love learning from other Komets! How have you changed since high school? What advice do you have for the students of Kearny?

  • 8:15-8:45AM: Arrival, light refreshments, networking

  • Present your workshop 2-3 times to groups of 25-35 students who chose to see YOU.

  • 9:10-9:50 Session 1

  • 9:55-10:35 Session 2

  • 10:40-11:20 Session 3

  • 11:25 Networking Lunch: Hosted lunch for presenters and teachers.
